Andrew Marchetto-Ryan, known as Dash, has a rich and varied background in education, having taught 8th grade math through college-level courses across public, private, and charter schools. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Alvernia University in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Forensic Science, and Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Duke University with a focus on mathematics. Dash has experience with the International Baccalaureate, which offers a globally recognized education framework, and the Advanced Placement program, providing college-level coursework for high school students. His roles have included advisory teacher and grade level counselor, where he has cultivated a deep understanding of student needs and how to address them effectively.

Dash’s passion for DEIB work is driven by a commitment to understanding and honoring each student’s unique story and creating educational spaces that prioritize respect and inclusivity. His approach involves building strong, meaningful connections with students, ensuring their voices are heard and respected. Through his roles, including advising students through their high school journey and leading cultural learning trips, Dash focuses on fostering an environment where all perspectives are valued and embraced.

As a Teacher Fellow at Shanti Alliance, Dash supports the team in facilitating events and activities, including student presentations and sessions for the annual DEIB conference. He believes in the importance of creating safe, intentional spaces for DEIB work, where education is intertwined with cultural context and responsibility, in alignment with Shanti Alliances’s values. 

When not working in education, Dash is active in several LGBTQ+ sports leagues, including flag football, softball, and bowling. He also loves outdoor adventures like hiking and golfing.
