Program Director

Sophie Halliday brings two decades of experience in education to her role as Program Director at Shanti Alliance and Director of Philanthropy and Programs at The Laulima Charitable Foundation. With dual BAs in Political Science and Economics from the University of Washington, an MA in Politics from Princeton University, and certifications in Instructional Design and Restorative Practices, Sophie has a robust academic foundation. Her diverse background as a teacher, facilitator, school administrator, and Accreditation Director for HAIS equips her with unique perspective to appreciate the transformative and uplifting experiences that benefit both youth and educators.

As co-founder of Shanti Alliance, Sophie is driven by a deep longing to actualize her vision of a better world and is dedicated to uplifting and empowering everyone involved where we thrive together in our wholeness. Her approach emphasizes love, compassion, and self-awareness, guiding others to act from a place of gentleness,  generosity, and reciprocity.

As Program Director, Sophie oversees all aspects of Shanti Alliance, aligning her work with her vision of a world where DEIB principles are not just understood, but practiced daily. Her personal philosophy centers on relationships built through deep listening, dialogue and collaborative work to achieve a common goal of collective thriving and community wellbeing.

Sophie stays grounded and present by balancing her passion for education with activities that nurture her spirit, such as yoga, baking, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family. She loves sharing a good meal over great conversations, and cherishing quiet moments that help her stay centered. These practices allow her to approach her professional life with the same love, empathy, and intention that she brings to her personal life.
