Kealoha Scullion holds a BA in Ethnic Studies from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where she authored an undergraduate thesis on how intersectional and multicultural pedagogies, initiated by Shanti Alliance, impact student self-awareness and school belonging. Kealoha’s role as a facilitator at the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) where she developed curricula and supporting the Indigenous Affinity group. Currently, as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the Northwest School, she supports enrollment, organizes admissions events such as Open Houses, and manages essential resources, including the Experience Fund. This fund provides financial aid to current families for educational expenses such as trips and athletic uniforms.
Kealoha’s commitment to social justice is shaped by her family values, experiences with SDLC, and the broader DEI efforts in Hawaiʻi. Her journey has deepened her understanding of systemic inequalities and the vital importance of recognizing and embracing diverse identities. She sees social justice not just as a principle, but as a pathway to personal and collective empowerment, driven by her own experiences and dedication to building inclusive communities.
In her role at Shanti Alliance, Kealoha contributes to supporting student programming for the annual DEIB conference and managing virtual events from Seattle. Her work reflects the organization’s values by promoting respectful and inclusive environments that honor cultural context and responsibility.
Outside of her professional life, Kealoha enjoys connecting with her friends and loved ones, dancing, reading, cooking, and staying active. Her diverse interests and joyful approach enhance her impactful work with Shanti Alliance.
