Who can attend the conference?
The conference is designed for high school students (grades 9-12) and K-12 educators who are interested in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practices within school communities.
Where and when will the conference take place?
The 7th Annual HI DEI Conference will take place on February 15-16, 2025, on the island of Oʻahu, Hawai‘i.
What is the theme of this year’s conference?
Our theme, "Cultivating and Growing Our Spheres of Belonging," invites us to create learning spaces that prioritize belonging and equity. Through reflection, respect, and continuous learning, we aim to cultivate environments where everyone can show up fully and authentically.
What’s the best way to register for a group?
Faculty advisors should complete the registration process on behalf of their students and colleagues. Registration is managed by our partner, the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS). Click here to complete your registration on their page!
What can I expect each day of the conference?
Each day of the conference will involve powerful keynotes, interactive sessions, and collaborative activities that reflect our theme of cultivating belonging. Will there be opportunities for networking and connecting with other attendees?
Yes, there will be multiple opportunities to connect and build relationships throughout the conference. Together, we’ll establish shared norms to create a space where we can foster mutual understanding, treat each other with aloha and compassion, and honor our shared humanity. By participating, you’re joining a community committed to deep respect, reflection, and continuous growth—principles that are essential to cultivating spaces where everyone belongs.
Can I get a refund if I’m unable to attend?
Registration fees are non-refundable. However, we are happy to work with you to transfer your registration to another student or educator. Our aim is to ensure that all who are able to participate can do so in a supportive, inclusive setting.
