Financial Assistance & Travel Grants

To help everyone attend the 7th Annual HI DEI Conference, we offer options for travel and registration support.

Travel Grants

Travel Grants for Outer Island & Continent Attendees:

If you live outside of Oʻahu, you may qualify for a travel grant to help cover transportation and accommodation costs. Apply early—funds are limited, and the application process requires specific documentation that may take time to gather. To ensure your application is considered, please submit all materials by November 11, 2024. Priority is given to Shanti Alliance member schools.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

  • Download the application from our website or email conference@shantialliance.org to request an application.

  • The application includes a checklist of required documentation.

  • Submit the application package in an electronic folder to: conference@shantialliance.org.

    Name the electronic folder using the following naming convention: ‘School Year SCHOOL NAME 7th HIDEI Conference Travel Grant Request’.

    Incomplete application packets will not be considered.

    Due to security reasons, in-person applications WILL NOT be accepted.

  • If Awarded:

    Travel grant awardees are required to stay at either Ala Moana Hotel or the Prince Waikiki Hotel.

    Report Requirements

    Deadline: June 30, 2025

    Submit a report that consists of (1) 30 second to 1 minute recording of reflections by each participant about their conference experience; (2) photographs of participants at the conference; (3) the impact it has had on their DEI work in their school community; (4) fiscal accounting of grant expenditures, including receipts.

Deadline Reminder: Apply by November 11, 2024.

Registration Fee Assistance for Students:

Students who need financial assistance to cover registration fees are encouraged to apply. Limited funds are available, so we recommend applying as early as possible. Priority will be given to students from Shanti Alliance member schools. All applications must be submitted by November 11, 2024.

How to Apply:

  • Download the application from our website or email conference@shantialliance.org to request an application.

  • Ensure all portions of the application are completed in entirety.

  • Submit the application via email to: conference@shantialliance.org. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Due to security reasons, in-person applications WILL NOT be accepted.

  • If awarded, submit a short written reflection (4-6 sentences) or recorded reflection (30 seconds to 1 minute) about your conference experience to conference@shantialliance.org no later than February 28, 2025.
